Unite the Union

The scale of events in London yesterday will have shocked many, but comes as little surprise to trade unionists active in workplaces and communities. This has been brewing for a long time. We’re more than a year on from the riots of 2024 which should have been an emergency alarm for The Labour Party but nothing has improved for most of us.

Our country is in a deeply worrying place, where people feel no hope for the future. Few have any trust that our politicians understand or care about their lives.

As we’ve been saying repeatedly, unless our political leaders deliver fast and visible improvements to the daily lives of working class communities, these resentments will grow and people will look elsewhere for answers.

One thing we can be certain about – a movement backed and bankrolled by the world’s richest man is never going to represent the interests of ordinary working people.
