Introduction

Currently, there is no established process in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, or Peterborough for politicians to represent YourParty. At present, these representatives are independents. The political landscape is shifting rapidly—YourParty is in its early stages, while the far right is becoming increasingly organised. This site serves as a resource for councillors eager to engage with YourParty and its supporters. Please note: The site remains under construction, so we ask for your patience.

Building a New Movement

Our aim is to create a movement that wins power through a credible and attractive alternative to the current parties—not by promoting individuals, but by representing the voices of our supporters. Many of us with left-leaning views are deeply frustrated by Keir Starmer’s government, which, rather than tackling child poverty and ending the two-child limit, has instead targeted pensioners, the disabled and individuals with mental health difficulties. The cost of food and energy is rising, people are struggling and yet taxes are being imposed on our own not the rich.

Addressing Inequality

In 1970, Britain was among the most fair and equal countries in Europe. Today, the gap between the wealthy and those in need is wider than ever. The far right is actively working to expand this divide, striving to replace democracy with oligarchy. Parties like Reform, backed by oil companies and wealthy individuals such as Elon Musk, are attracting disillusioned voters who are rightly dissatisfied with Starmer’s autocratic leadership.

Your Voice Matters

We want to listen to everyone in the area to determine how best to restore a democratic, left-leaning government—one that responds to voters rather than being directed by party hierarchy or an authoritarian inner circle. To achieve this, we plan to implement continuous consultation with everyone locally. Your views, we will decide how best to put this into practice. With face-to-face discussion and an effective social media platform, we believe it is possible to build a vibrant party of hope—one that is more inclusive, creative, responsive, and representative of the values, ideas, and concerns of all, unlike the rigid, exclusive, and dogmatic structures of the past.

Our Core Values

We invite people who share our core values—social justice, environmental stewardship, a far more equitable distribution of wealth and opportunity, an end to educational segregation, an improved publicly run NHS. AND public ownership and accountability for essential utilities such as water and rail—to join us.

Get Involved

Your input is urgently needed! What do you think our local policy priorities should be to align with these core values? At this time, we need volunteers to help us establish a political presence and  to contest the May elections. Currently, we are independent councillors who have joined YourParty, supported by friends, pressure groups, and trade unions. Now, we need you to help shape a movement for real change in Cambridge and Cambridgeshire.

We want to hear your thoughts. After all, this will be YourParty.

A Note to Councillors
Many councillors are weary of national constraints and top-down approaches. If you are in Labour, the Liberal Democrats, or the Greens, or already independent and are considering a fresh start, please get in touch—we would like to hear from you.
